Jenny McCarthy Reveals Details About Jim Carrey Break Up

Hollywood was shocked earlier this year when funnyman Jim Carrey and funny lady Jenny McCarthy announced they were breaking up--and for the first time since the split, McCarthy is sharing some insight into what happened.

The Playboy model-turned-actress-turned-author discusses the relationship on an episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' that airs Tuesday,PEOPLE reports.

McCarthy visits Oprah's couch to discuss her latest book, 'Love, Lust and Faking It,' and while there, is asked what happened with Carrey. "Tell me, when did you know it was over?" Winfrey asks.

McCarthy candidly answers, "You know, the simple word I can give – and there's a few, so let me say a few. The first thing is, when it's not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship."

After some more discussion about the relationship and McCarthy's self image, Winfrey asks if reconciliation is possible. "Okay, I'm gonna ask this ... Just because I have to ... Any chance you'll get back together, do you think?"

"God, another good question," replies McCarthy.

"That's sort of a simple one," Winfrey says. McCarthy responds, "I know. I didn't even think about that one, though."

Why Is Tom Brady Pulling a Justin Bieber With His Hair? He Says to Blame Gisele

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady calls the shots on the field but it's his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen, who is running the plays when he heads to the stylist.

At least that's what it appeared when a Massachusetts radio host recently tried to persuade Brady to ditch his Justin Bieber 'do and return to his clean-cut roots. Brady balked and said, "Ah, you'll have to speak to my wife about that," the Boston Herald reports.

Brady -- who, for the record, is two times Bieber's sixteen years -- has been mocked in the Beantown press ever since he showed up at the June NBA playoffs sporting a Bieberlike shag.

Some Hub stylists complained the mane was too young for the athlete's matinee idol face, but to be fair, Brady isn't Bieber's only adult imitator.

Crooner Michael Bublé, 35, also unveiled a version of the teen idol's shaggy locks in a new music video, but his styling, which included a signature Bieber hoodie, was in jest.

As was Jimmy Fallon's Sept. 24 'Late Night' tribute, in which he played Bieber reflecting upon his recent 'CSI' acting gig.

Meanwhile, Brady has made no comment on whether he likes the look or if he's just keen on making Mrs. Brady happy.

Brady does, however, have a least one other, um, fan of his long, sun-kissed tresses. "Nice haircut, Brady," Bieber quipped when asked by the Herald for a statement on the athlete's mop top. "Dude's got some golden locks. Haha!"

Brad Womack Named the New 'Bachelor' (Again!)

It's official: former 'Bachelor' Brad Womack will return to the show and continue his quest to find true love, PEOPLE reports. Womack, 37, shocked 'Bachelor' fans in 2007 when he rejected both of the final two bachelorettes, DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft, on the finale of season 11. Now he's getting a second chance to find his soul mate.

The news was revealed during Monday's 'Dancing With the Stars.' "Brad, this time, pick somebody!" quipped 'Dancing With the Stars' host Tom Bergeron.

"At first I was skeptical," 'Bachelor' host Chris Harrison told PEOPLE. "But the more I thought about it, the more I fell in love with the idea of him coming back, getting another shot." Never before had a 'Bachelor' or 'Bachelorette' rejected both finalists.

There was quite a bit of backlash after Womack made the decision-causing him to go into hiding.

"I don't think Brad deserved as much of the anger and resentment from the fans," Harrison says of the treatment Womack received from fans. "He's come out a better man and I think he's ready to do this."

The next season of 'The Bachelor' premieres in January 2011.

Seeing Double: George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis Both Opt for Black Suits

Coordinating outfits with your significant other often leads to trouble with the fashion police. After all, who can forget Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake hitting the red carpet in his-and-her denim evening attire? But everything that George Clooney touches has loads of class so why should his matching attire with Italian model/actress girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis be any different?

Our pals at StyleList point out that upon arrival at the Giorgio Armani runway show in Milan, the stunning couple held hands and struck poses in all-black suits -- Canalis's was a Roberto Cavalli single-button, sculpted-shoulder style worn with a cleavage-baring tank, and Clooney's a signature slim-fit number paired with a button-down, minus the tie, worn loose to show off his tan chest. Perhaps the two just jetted in from his sunny home on Lake Como.

Although Canalis looks good in basically anything thanks to her enviable body (check out these underwear ads for Roberto Cavalli), we rather like her in this masculine getup, which is accessorized just right --- with an angular clutch and sparkly black and silver shoes -- to make it feminine.

Back to Blonde: Katherine Heigl Changes Hair Color Again

Grey's Anatomy' has moved on without Katherine Heigl and she has moved on too ... to another hair color.

The 31-year-old star appeared at a press conference for the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation this week sporting tresses that were not just blonde, but ones that tipped the scales towards a much lighter, platinum version.

Heigl has certainly not been shy about switching up her 'do over the years, reverting all the way from blonde to brunette and back again several times over. And even though this Hollywood mom graces the October cover of InStyle with her new lighter locks, yesterday was her first public debut.

As much as we think this actress is a definite beauty, our friends at StyleList breathed a collective sigh of relief that she ditched the big brown bouffant hairdo she was sporting for her last movie release.

Heigl's new film (where she dons golden blonde locks),'Life As We Know It' opens October 8.

'Bones' Star Emily Deschanel Gets Married

Emily Deschanel's rep confirms that the TV actress tied the knot on Saturday night in her hometown of Los Angeles with writer-actor David Hornsby, according to a People.com report.

The 'Bones' star, 33, and her groom married in a "quiet evening ceremony" attended by friends and relatives.

Almost exactly a year ago, Emily Deschanel's younger sister, '(500) Days of Summer' star Zooey Deschanel, wed Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard on Sept. 20, 2009.

Hornsby is known to fans of the FX comedy 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' as Sweet Dee's not-so-secret admirer, Rickety Cricket. His new bride is shooting season 6 of 'Bones' (starring opposite David Boreanz and earning a producer credit behind the scenes), and she'll reportedly make her directorial debut on the series next year.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Heather Locklear Celebrates a Birthday, Finally Drops 'Sambora' From Her Name

Although she filed for divorce from Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora in 2006, Heather Locklear has only now gotten around to officially splitting up from his last name, reports TMZ.

Heather Deen Sambora filed a request in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday asking that her name be officially changed to what everyone calls her anyway: Heather Locklear. About time!

But why now? Is the actress saying good-bye to her ex-husband's name because she's ready to commit to her latest steady, former 'Melrose Place' costar Jack Wagner?

Late last week, according to People.com, Wagner serenaded her at a 49th birthday party he threw her in Beverly Hills (her birthday was Saturday).

The couple began their romance in 2007; Locklear is mom to 12-year-old Ava, her daughter with Sambora.

"All her friends sang to her," said a witness at the Korean restaurant where the actress was guest of honor. "Jack harmonized and then sang the 'and many more' part....Heather was laughing all night."

By the end of the week, Locklear had not only filed paperwork for her name change, but also announced her next acting role: a 2011 Lifetime movie, 'He Loves Me,' about a wife whose paranoia about her husband's fidelity leads to a mental meltdown. Scary stuff!

Melissa Rycroft Gets 'Conflicting Reports' on Baby's Gender

Former 'Bachelor' and 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant Melissa Rycroft has known for a while she'll be a mom, but she's still waiting to learn her baby's sex after receiving conflicting reports from doctors.

"We got our first report, got all excited and then we went back a few weeks later and it was a conflicting report," Rycroft tellsPEOPLE. "We're not sure, hopefully in the next week or two we'll get 100 percent confirmation."

Rycroft's pregnancy, with husband Tye Strickland, wasannounced at the end of July.

"It was a shock. We weren't even trying. It's such a blessing. Tye wanted kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, 'No, not ready!'" she told Us Weekly.

PEOPLE reports Rycroft and Strickland just moved into a new home in Dallas and the mother-to-be is taking the change in stride. "It's still crazy for me to be entering this world of 'Mommywood.' It's exciting and it's surreal and it's a fun new world to be in."

Rycroft's gym routine was one of the first things to change with her pregnancy. "It's limiting what you can do.The kiddo definitely tells you when they're tired and when they don't want you to work out."

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Joins His Own Broadway Show

The much-hyped musical 'American Idiot' has had good but not great box-office results since April, but that should all change once the face of Green Day steps on stage. According to theNew York Times, rocker Billie Joe Armstrong is stepping into the lead role of St. Jimmy for eight shows starting from Tuesday to Sunday this week at the St. James Theatre in New York City.

'American Idiot' is a rock opera promoted by Green Day using mostly songs from the band's 2004 album. The lead role is usually played by Tony Vincent, but because of a family matter, he's out for two weeks, so Armstrong is swooping in to cover for him before taking off for a South American tour.

It'll be Armstrong's Broadway debut, but performing the songs should be the easy part since he's used to playing for sold-out stadiums across the world.

Armstrong is credited with co-writing the book for the play with director Michael Mayer. Armstrong will play songs such as 'Know Your Enemy,' 'St. Jimmy,' 'Homecoming' and 'Last Night on Earth.'

Casey Affleck Admits Joaquin Phoenix Documentary Isn't Real

Casey Affleck's much-hyped new documentary, 'I'm Still Here,' which follows a drugged-out, self-imploding Joaquin Phoenix as he tries to break into hip-hop, isn't real, Affleck admitted in a Thursday New York Times article.

"I never intended to trick anybody," Affleck, who's married to Phoenix's sister Summer, told the magazine. "The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind." But, to the rest of the world watching, it appeared to be real. Phoenix played the role on- and off-screen for over two years--including an infamous appearance on the 'Late Show With Dave Letterman' in 2009 when he mumbled his way through the interview, leaving the host bewildered by the actor's behavior.

"It's a terrific performance, it's the performance of his career," Affleck says of Phoenix's two years of role-playing. He acknowledges that Phoenix put his professional life on the line to do this film--which Affleck reveals is modeled after the journalism of Hunter S. Thompson.

But why did they do it? Usually, fake documentaries or mockumentaries give the audience a heads up that it's fiction. But 'I'm Still Here' never does that. Affleck tells the New York Times that he wanted viewers to experience the film's message about the disintegration of celebrity without the distraction of preconceived notions. He acknowledges, "There was no wink."

For his part, Affleck seems to realize the audience and critics might not like what they've created. "The reviews were so angry," he said.

As for the future, the actors are returning to Hollywood. But the question remains: can these two Academy Award-nominated actors be taken seriously anymore?

'Bridalplasty' Takes Wedding TV to the Next Level of Crazy

Can't get enough wedding TV? Love all those bloody-but-fun nip and tuck shows? What if we told you that these two premises were being combined, and that they're throwing some old fashioned, cutthroat (literally!) reality competitiveness into the mix? Awesome, right? The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this week that E! is developing a show called 'Bridalplasty,' where "brides-to-be compete in wedding-themed challenges to win extensive surgical procedures." It's basically FOX's infamous 'The Swan' but with a 'Say Yes to the Dress' twist.

The winning bride-to-be will get the wedding of her dreams, where she will reveal her new look to friends, family and, most importantly, the groom. "Viewers will witness his emotional and possibly shocked reaction as they stand at the altar and he lifts her veil to see her for the first time following her extreme plastic surgery," E! said. Count us in! Will you be watching?

Jennifer Hudson: I Lost Another 20 Pounds!

The weight is just falling off Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson. Earlier this year, the former ' American Idol' contestant revealed a new svelte figure on the cover of PEOPLE. And on Thursday, Hudson confessed she's lost an additional 20 pounds since then!

Hudson, who's currently a Weight Watchers spokesperson, admitted she's just as surprised by the additional weight loss as everyone else. "I didn't expect to go as far as I did!" she told PEOPLE at an event in New York City on Thursday. "People are like, 'Okay Jennifer don't lose anything else!'"

The actress, who will go on tour in early 2011 to promote her upcoming second album, isn't quite used to her new body. The former size-16 star reveals she's constantly taken aback when she's shopping.

"I go into the store and they try to put me in 4s and 6s and I'm like, 'Who are you trying to talk to?'" said the actress. "My mind hasn't caught up yet."

And though she seems to be enjoying her new smaller size, she's quick to point out that she'll be happy no matter how small--or big--she is. "I've always been a person who's comfortable with myself whether it's plus-size, small size it doesn't matter," said Hudson.

Will 'American Idol' Kill Jennifer Lopez's Career?

News that Jennifer Lopez has signed a $12 million deal with FOX to be a judge on 'American Idol' has made some wonder whether the singer is committing career suicide.

After all, the beloved, ne'er-do-wrong Ellen DeGeneres flubbed her role in one of the show's hot seats last season. And with popular bitter Brit Simon Cowell's departure, many see the formerly successful 'Idol' as a franchise that's crashing and burning fast.

In addition to Cowell and DeGeneres, fourth judge Kara DioGuardi also recently announced her exit. Though no one has officially been named to replace Cowell, Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler has said he's the one.

"If someone as savvy as Ellen DeGeneres couldn't figure it out, who's to say what will happen when personalities as big as J.Lo and Steven Tyler come together?" says TV Guide senior critic Matt Roush. "We've just come out of a year when the show was seen to be in real disarray."

Though J.Lo is said to be "very excited" about her new job, Roush tells PopEater it's a gamble considering the shaky ground 'AI' is standing on.

"In many regards, her doing this is quite the calculated risk," he says. "This is not a guaranteed win. The alchemy of that particular panel is going to be really tricky."

The contract negotiations have not appeared to go smoothly. Lopez was said to initially have asked for TV and movie deals as well as more money and a say in who her fellow judges would be. But since she signed with FOX for the 10th season of 'AI,' those requests were dropped and word emerged that talks with the star had been "normal."

Rumors have also reportedly been leaked by her rivals and 'Idol'-haters about Lopez's supposed "diva demands" in the hopes of quashing her plans to join the show.

If she and Tyler are on board, they will sit alongside the only remaining original judge, Randy Jackson.

More Audio Tapes in Mel Gibson Drama Surface

A woman who allegedly had an affair with Mel Gibson during Oksana Grigorieva's pregnancy, has come forward with audio tapes of a different kind.

Violet Kowal, a Polish porn star, recorded a conversation of Grigorieva's bodyguard allegedly offering Kowal money and incentives to testify against the Oscar-winning director,RadarOnline.com reports.

Kowal then took the tapes and played them for Gibson's lawyers.

"At that meeting, Violet played Mel's lawyers a series of taped audio recordings which show how a bodyguard, who identified himself as working for Oksana, made advances to them," a source said.

"The bodyguard offered personal, financial and legal assistance on behalf of Oksana and her team in exchange for information on Mel, from Violet," the source added. "The man claimed Oksana would soon be worth millions of dollars, and it was worth having her on your side."

This summer, a series of phone conversations between Gibson and Grigorieva, in which the actor made several racist, sexist and threatening rants, leaked online.

The ex-couple are currently in the midst of a custody battle for their daughter, Lucia. Gibson is also being investigated for domestic violence.

Publicist: Michael Douglas Plans on Walking 'Wall Street' Red Carpet

Michael Douglas is determined to walk the red carpet at the NYC premiere of 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' next Wednesday, marking his first public appearance since late August, when he stunned David Letterman with his healthy appearance following his first week of chemotherapy and radiation treatment for throat cancer, the actor's publicist tells PopEater.

The acting icon will be about halfway through an eight-week treatment program when 'Wall Street' premieres at the Ziegfeld Theater on Sept. 20. Publicist Allen Burry confirms that Douglas is making every effort to be there to mark the return of his most famous character, Gordon Gekko.

"That's the plan right now," Burry tells PopEater. "But we're literally going day-to-day as to know how much he can do."

"He would like to attend the premiere and show his support for the movie," Burry adds. "He knows that's part of the job and he's proud of the movie."

Radiation and chemotherapy take a major toll on a patient, and promoting a big film like 'Wall Street' can be grueling. The premiere falls roughly four weeks into Douglas' program and he plans to go to his regularly-scheduled treatment the morning of the event, just like he does five days a week.

During his visit to Letterman's 'Late Show,' Douglas said the treatment "knocks you out really hard" and that the "progression goes down" as the radiation and chemo intensify.

His publicist agrees.

"This all builds, and it's very hard to 100 percent predict," Burry says.

Despite the throat cancer diagnosis and the invasive medical intervention that followed soon after, Douglas has done his best to continue promoting 'Money Never Sleeps,' which co-stars Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan.

Each stop on his scaled-back press tour has had a major impact, though -- from a cover interview with PEOPLE magazine to the Letterman appearance, which ended with the talk-show host passing on a rare hug of support.

'You Again' Director Says Cher Musical Is Coming to the Stage

First, Cher -- working a barely-there bodysuit at age 64 for crying out loud -- makes a huge splash presenting an award to Lady Gaga at the MTV Video Music awards. Next, get ready for Cher, the musical.

Prolific producer-director-writer Andy Fickman confirms that he has a theatrical piece, drawn from Cher's life and career, on the way.

He tells PopEater, "We'll be making announcements about that project coming together shortly. She's a fairly phenomenal character, Cher -- as a human being I think she's one of the great icons of all time, a force to be reckoned with. The way she looked onstage with Lady Gaga, well, it's one for the books."

Fickman doesn't want to give out details yet. For one thing, he has other project to talk about -- and, certainly, another icon: everyone's favorite octogenarian superstar, Betty White.

The Betty movement couldn't have come along at a better time for Fickman's Sept. 24-opening 'You Again' comedy with Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristen Chenoweth, Victor Garber, Odette Yustman – and Betty. The movie was made "before her Super Bowl spot, before she did 'SNL' and her career ignited 10 times over," as Fickman puts it.

He notes, "It was funny when we were casting, we kept referring to the character as 'the Betty White character,' and we finally said, 'You know, we really should find out if Betty White herself is available.' And we were just so thrilled to get her. She is in a league of her own. Comedically, every actor wanted to get to work with her."

"I'd never worked with Betty before, and I approached her the same way I'd approach my mother -- talking loud and slow, and as if she was incapable of operating a VCR," he adds. "I was not sure of her energy level. But she turned out to be the brightest person around, the smartest -- and by far the funniest. She could not help herself. She could put a cap on any sentence, and we'd be in stitches. At the end of a long day, you could look over at Betty and she'd still be ready to go. It was a lesson for the rest of us."

Betty plays the grandmother of Bell's character in the multi-generational romp in which Bell and Curtis have to square off against their old high school nemeses.

Meanwhile, Fickman's been busy this week with concert presentations of his Broadway-bound 'Heathers' -- as in his musical based on the 1989 dark high school flick about a very nasty clique and the bad things that happen to them. The cult favorite helped launch Winona Ryder and Christian Slater into stardom.

"We've been having a blast with it," he says. "We've been doing readings in Los Angeles of it, and now we've put it on as a concert in New York -- we had a couple of new songs to try out, and we sold out all three performances."

As far as the casting, "It's like when we did 'Reefer Madness,' and people really wanted to be part of something culty and fun. 'Heathers' has no shortage of fans. A lot of actors would like to be involved, a lot of requests have come in form people asking if they can be a Heather, or someone who has to deal with a Heather." So far, he says, "We've been using a lot of the same wonderful actors I've been fortunate enough to work with in the past. By winter, we'll have more of an idea," he adds of who'll be in the show next year. "I've been very lucky to have the right cast come together at the right time."

Kate Gosselin Shows Off Her Bikini Body

After giving birth to eight babies, Kate Gosselin is ready to show off her bikini body on the new cover of PEOPLE. The reality TV mom admits that now that her children are all in school, she has more time to exercise and is "the most fit I've ever been."

"I've worked really hard! Haven't I earned the right, at this point, to look good?" she says.

In the interview, the 'Kate Plus 8' star admits to having a tummy tuck after the birth of her sextuplets, but denies those botox and breast implant rumors, saying all she's done is eat healthier and purchase a great push-up bra. Flaunting her body is just another way to show ex-husband Jon Gosselin what he's missing out on.

After a scandal-plagued separation, Kate's divorce from Jon was finalized in December 2009.

The single mom is still looking for Mr. Right but denies she's having an affair with her married bodyguard, Steve Neild -- even though she's currently vacationing with him (and without her kids) in Mexico.

"It's just absurd," she says. "I'm waiting for Mr. Right. It would be nice if somebody noticed me, sure!

Sienna Miller Joins Fight Against Phone-Hacking Tabloid

British tabloid News of the World has angered yet another celebrity by allegedly hacking into their cell phone data. This time, it's Sienna Miller, who is set to join the fight in suing the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper.

The Guardian reports Miller is taking legal action against the tabloid, which is already fending off similar claims by public figures like Steve Coogan and Chris Tarrant, for allegedly hacking into her phone and listening to private messages.

The move came after Miller, 28, discovered that the newspaper's private investigator, Glen Mulcaire, had acquired her cell phone numbers, account number and pin in order to snatch her voicemails.

Miller sued the tabloid in 2008 for taking nude photos of her on a closed set, but the lawsuit was settled with an apology letter and damages.

Mulcaire also reportedly hacked into phones belonging to Coogan and Tarrant, who are involved in the lawsuit as well.

Police investigated the News of the World for the hacking reports last year, and had information on Miller's case, but held the information from Miller for 14 weeks in 2009.

Lady Gaga and Dueling Songs By Kanye and Taylor Dominate MTV VMAs

The loud and glittery free-for-all known as the MTV Video Music Awards, held in Los Angeles, promised plenty of Lady Gaga, crazy performances, Lady Gaga, various drop-ins by the 'Jersey Shore' cast, Lady Gaga and ... Lady Gaga. Mission accomplished.

Gaga, who showed up with a military escort, won the first award of the night for best female video, for 'Bad Romance.' She was up for a total of 13 moonmans, which is a VMA record. She ended with eight -- another record, including the biggie: video of the year. Eminem wasn't far behind with an impressive eight nominations. His 'Not Afraid' won best male video and best hip-hop vid.

Everyone's favorite 16-year-old, Justin Bieber, grabbed the coveted best new artist award.

But of course most people were talking all night about Kanye West and Taylor Swift, who were both slated to perform -- separately. Swift went up first, and sang a melodramatic ditty about a man who was "32 and still growing up ... who you are is not what you did, you're still an innocent." West was 32 during last year's infamous interruption of Swift's acceptance speech.

SUBTLE!

Viewers had to wait until the end to see Kanye's answer to Taylor's tweaking. He didn't disappoint, with a sing-rap track that turned into an apt confessional. He offered: "Let's have a toast for douchebags, let's have a toast for the assholes." Was he talking about himself? Um.

For hosting duties, MTV swapped out bad BOY comic Russell Brand for bad GIRL comic Chelsea Handler.

Let's look at what else went down.
- Performances included Eminem (who opened the show), Justin Bieber, Usher, Florence and the Machine, Linkin Park, Drake, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Mary J. Blige and more.

- Nominees, presenters and guests": Beyonce (five nominations), 30 Seconds to Mars (Jared Leto's band which won best rock video), and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys (up for best collaboration). Ellen DeGeneres presented, as did cast members from 'Glee' and 'Jackass.' Other stars attending included Justin Timberlake (Remember that kid? He met with a just a little bit of success in music, before his movie career!), who was seated near 'Social Network' costar Jesse Eisenberg. And fresh from jail and rehab, Lindsay Lohan made an awkward cameo alongside host Handler.

- Fashion crazied up the scene at every turn: Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Ke$ha, the cast of 'Jersey Shore,' Rosario Dawson and of course, Lady Gaga all did their thing. It's not known as the wildest red carpet of the year for nothing, and don't adjust your sets, because it was technically a white carpet this year.

DWTS Preview: Karina Wants to See If The Situation Has 'Rhythm'

Dancing With the Stars' footwork phenom Karina Smirnoff is paired this season with 'Jersey Shore' breakout star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino. So how does she feel their chemistry on the dancefloor will be? It's a big question mark.

"I'm excited to actually start. Everyone's been rehearsing for like two and a half to three weeks and we'll start [this week]. I'm excited to start and to see if he has any rhythm, if he can dance all together," Smirnoff told PopEater on the red carpet of the MTV VMAs. Sorrentino has been wrapping the third season of 'Shore.'

Smirnoff says that while they haven't tangoed yet, they have begun to know one another. "I've met him. We talked, we had our first meeting. Very interesting! Definitely a unique special person. He's witty, he's sharp. We have our hands full with each other."

Chelsea Handler Hot Tubs with the 'Jersey Shore' Cast

Smirnoff has gotten far in 'DWTS' in earlier seasons, twisting with Mario Lopez into the finals. In more recent seasons, she hasn't fared as well with her partners like Steve Wozniak, Aaron Carter and Rocco DiSpirito.

Will she remain close with The Situation if they have an early 'DWTS' exit? Maybe, as they are neighbors. "Our houses are five minutes away from each other in Jersey," she says. "It's the new 'it' state!"

'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' Star Kevin McCarthy Dies at 96

Kevin McCarthy, who starred as a frantic doctor trying to save his community in the science-fiction movie classic 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers,' has died at age 96.

McCarthy died Saturday, said Cape Cod Hospital spokesman Dave Riley, who wouldn't reveal the cause of death or any other details.

'Body Snatchers' was one of the most powerful films of the classic 1950s sci-fi era and it hung on McCarthy's performance.

In fact, while he would consistently win praise for his acting during a long and busy career, his most lasting fame would come for 'Body Snatchers,' a film that was a flop upon its initial release.

His frantic shouting of "You're next!" to those in approaching cars became so well known among science-fiction fans that he was often asked to spoof the role, including in the '70s remake of the film

'Body Snatchers' flopped at the box office, considered too bleak for audiences of the time. It was elevated to classic status, and its star to iconic status, after such critics as Francois Truffault hailed it and late-night television programmers embraced it, and specifically, McCarthy's performance as he vainly tried to warn residents in his small town of the evil pod people from outer space who were quietly taking over the personalities of everyone on Earth.

McCarthy's acting career took off in 1938 with his Broadway debut in "Abe Lincoln in Illinois."

Soon after, he became an early member of the Actors Studio and was chosen by Elia Kazan to play Biff, the son of Willy Loman, in the London production of "Death of a Salesman." He repeated the role in the 1951 film starring Fredric March and earned an Oscar nomination as supporting actor.

McCarthy's other films included "A Gathering of Eagles," "The Best Man," "Mirage," "Hotel," "The Howling," "Twilight Zone- The Movie," "Inner Space," "Dark Tower," "Just Cause," "The Distinguished Gentleman" and "Steal Big, Steal Little."

He also appeared in one other classic film, although in a much smaller role. He was Marilyn Monroe's estranged husband in her last movie, 1961's "The Misfits."

He originally turned down the role when director John Huston approached him, complaining that it was too small.

"I finally said I would do it if they paid me $100 a word," he recalled in 2003. "Turns out I had 29 words. I should have asked for more."

McCarthy also worked frequently in television, appearing in TV movies, miniseries and such series as "The Survivors," "Flamingo Road" and "Amanda's."

Comic accordion player "Weird Al" Yankovic cast McCarthy in his movie "UHF" and several of his videos, and the actor appeared in more than two dozen episodes of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater.

In 1978, he began touring in the one-man show "Give 'em Hell, Harry," playing the Harry Truman role created by James Whitmore. Over the years he appeared as Truman in 350 venues.

McCarthy was born in Seattle on Feb. 15, 1914. He, his sister, author Mary McCarthy, and their two brothers were orphaned when their parents died in the 1918 influenza epidemic. They were raised by relatives.

His first marriage, to Augusta Dabney, produced three children. His second, to Kate Crane, produced two children.

Lady Gaga Chose Three Outfits for 2010 VMAs

First Lady Gaga stepped on the white carpet of the VMAs in a drastic Alexander McQueen, complete with lobster claw heels.

Then she waltzed on staged in a different black ensemble to accept her second award of the night for best pop video.

Of course, how could 'Bad Romance' not take home the big prize, and so again, we saw Lady Gaga on stage to thank everyone when she earned video of the year, this time in a "meat dress." (Reminiscent of the meat bikini she wore in a photo shoot for the Japanese Vogues Hommes.)

"I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse," Lady Gaga said after Cher presented her the award.

Kate Gosselin: The Kids Don't Like Being at Jon's House

And the battle between Kate and Jon continues. While visiting 'Live With Regis and Kelly' on Friday, Kate Gosselin admitted that there was still tension between her and ex-husband Jon Gosselin, UsMagazine.com reports.

"It's... you know. I do try to keep it as peaceful as possible," she told Kelly Ripa and guest host Anderson Cooper. The level of tension "depends on the day," she added.

The mother of eight said the biggest issue is when their children have to spend time at Jon's place. "I basically wait for the phone call from how many of them want to come home," she said.

She further explained, saying his apartment "is not [their] home; it doesn't feel like home to them... they want to be at home -- in their house."

Jon wasn't too happy when he heard what Kate had to say. The reality star responded to his ex-wife's statements on Twitter saying, "As much as I want to respond to numerous LIES recently claimed on 'Regis and Kelly,' I will refrain. I have learned from the past that it's a waste of my time and energy. I am 'rising above', and refuse to engage in any sort of public argument that could potentially harm or upset my children. My children and the people in my life know the truth, and that is what's important."

Lauren Graham Dating Her TV 'Sibling' Peter Krause

Talk about an off-the-radar romance! While portraying siblings Sarah and Adam Braverman on the NBC dramedy 'Parenthood' (season 2 premieres this Tuesday), Lauren Graham and Peter Krause have quietly been getting cozy off the set. In the October issue of Redbook, Graham (who recently attended the Emmys solo) confirms the two are an item, and opens upabout the nerdy way their surprise relationship started.

"I think we liked each other [but] he asked me over to his house to play a board game -- and that's exactly what we ended up doing," she says. "So I was like, 'This guy doesn't like me. Who actually plays a board game?'....The timing wasn't right. I don't think either of us was ready."

But why, in an age when high-profile romances are flaunted on the red carpet all the time, has this pair been so secretive?

"Nobody knew about it for awhile, because we like to be at home, cooking and not going out," the actress, 43, says about what it's like dating her costar, 45 (neither has been married before; Krause, a Minnesota native, has an 8-year-old son from a previous relationship).

And she explains, "I've also been really protective of it, because it's important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show."

It seems unlikely that 'Parenthood' ratings would have suffered once fans of 'Gilmore Girls' and 'Six Feet Under' -- many of whom would call these two brainy/funny actors a well-matched pair -- got wind of the relationship. Then again, Graham makes a good point about the Braverman sibling dynamic (Dax Shepard and Erika Christensen play the other two siblings at the heart of the fictional 'Parenthood' family): writers and viewers alike may now find it challenging to ignore headlines about Krause and Graham's personal life anytime the two share scenes as brother and sister.

In any case, Graham seems happiest that the relationship is a low-maintenence one, saying, "One of the things that's been so fun is that it's so easy," adding, "It's a lot, to work with somebody and spend time with them, too."

Did Michael Richards Have Another Meltdown?

According to a new report from TMZ, Michael Richards is in hot water again for flying off the handle. In recent years, the 61-year-old 'Seinfeld' star has been keeping a very low profile, ever since hurling the n-word at hecklers during a profanity-laced tirade that was infamously caught on tape in 2006.

Now, in a new lawsuit, photographer Brendon O'Neal reportedly claims that the angry actor flat-out beat him up, during an August 25 assault that sounds downright brutal.

The incident allegedly took place on a street in Los Angeles. Richards is accused of walking up to O'Neal in a "menacing manner ... with closed fists" and then punching the photographer in the face, knocking him to the pavement, where he "proceeded to kick [O'Neal] numerous times, directing the blows to [O'Neal's] arms, hands, and camera."

No word yet on what triggered the alleged assault. Meanwhile, Richards' reps have not issued a response about the lawsuit.

The actor, beloved for years as 'Seinfeld' misfit Cosmo Kramer, was reportedly devastated when amateur video of his 2006 outburst (from the stage of L.A.'s Laugh Factory during a standup gig) severely tarnished his jovial public image. He tried apologizing publicly, and denied he was a racist, although Rev. Jesse Jackson condemned the rant as "hate speech," and many declared Richards' career permanently damaged. Indeed, the actor has rarely resurfaced -- although he guest-starred as himself on a 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' episode in 2009, featuring a controversial scene where Richards blows his top ("If only there were a horrible name that I could call you that would make you as angry as I am!") while bystanders used phones to capture the "meltdown."

So far, no video evidence of the attack on O'Neal has materialized.

DWTS' Host Brooke Burke on the 'Crazy' Cast, The Situation's Abs, and Jennifer Grey's 'Dirty' Footwork

Brooke Burke predicts a very...interestingseason of 'Dancing with the Stars' when the 11th cycle kicks off this fall. On Friday, the former 'DWTS' champ (who now cohosts the series with Tom Bergeron) told MTV News, "I think it's a crazy lineup. It's anybody's game right now....No one has dance experience. I love this season because it's totally unpredictable. Everybody's talking about the Situation."

But with the talkative, tan reality star's commitments to shooting season 3 of 'Jersey Shore,' will he be able squeeze in enough hours in the studio to learn his choreography in time for the Sept. 20 season premiere?

"He has such a disadvantage because he's not able to rehearse for the full month," said Burke, adding, "If anybody can get him show-premiere ready, Karina [Smirnoff] can do it. I think we're going to see a lot abs!"

As for which star may be best-dressed on the dance floor, Burke says, "I know Audrina [Partridge] is going to look amazing. She looks the part already. She's gonna get out on the ballroom and look so beautiful and elegant. Can she dance? I have no idea."

The rest of the cast -- which includes Bristol Palin, Florence Henderson, and Margaret Cho -- is adding to what Burke calls "a good eclectic mix."

"We got Rick Fox competing against Kurt Warner, two athletes. I think Kurt Warner has an amazing Cinderella story. Jennifer Grey, you know she's going to bring back the 'Dirty Dancing.' It's kind of a crazy cast!"

Yet Another Jennifer Aniston-John Mayer Sighting?

Last month, John Mayer complained to fans online about internet speculation that he and 'The Switch' star Jennifer Aniston were back together (yet he never outright denied it). Meanwhile, witnesses continue to spot the former couple hanging out. This weekend, RadarOnline reports that when Mayer gave a concert Wednesday near Atlanta, where Aniston is shooting the Judd Apatow film 'Wanderlust,' the actress quietly slipped backstage in "workout clothes" and a baseball cap for a chat with her ex, and more.

"She looked gorgeous and seemed to be really enjoying herself," a source told Radar. "She and John laughed a lot."

From the site of the Lakewood, Ga., concert, the duo then allegedly decamped -- along with a group of people connected to Mayer's tour -- to a Ritz-Carlton, where Aniston is reportedly staying during the 'Wanderlust' shoot. Radar reports that the famously outspoken musician then rented a suite for a one-night-only private party. Mayer & Co. traveled to Florida the following day for a performance in Tampa.

Aniston, 41, and Mayer, 32, ended their yearlong relationship in 2008. She was spotted last month going out with 'Cougar Town' star Josh Hopkins (the actress will appear as a guest star in an upcoming episode, playing Courtney Cox's therapist), setting off buzz that the two might be getting serious. Several outlets have reported that she's also spent time recently with Lindsay Lohan's ex, restaurant owner Harry Morton.

Nevertheless, fans remain captivated by the possibility that Aniston will reunite with Mayer, especially after this latest sighting in Atlanta.

Report: Taylor Swift Will Sing About (But Not With) Kanye West at VMA

Kanye interrupted Taylor.
Kanye apologized to Taylor.
Kanye tweeted about Taylor for hours.
Kanye even offered to give Taylor a "beautiful" song he wrote.

Now, Taylor Swift is having her say.

According to the Associated Press, the 20-year-old country star has secretly rehearsed a song she wrote -- and plans to sing at tonight's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards -- about the notorious night last year when Kanye West stormed the stage, grabbed her mic and told the 2009 VMA audience that a different artist deserved to win the Best Female Video award that had just been placed into Swift's hands.

The AP's source said that Swift's new song was written earlier this year, and will be released on her upcoming album in October, 'Speak Now.' E! News is confirming the report, saying that a Swift-West duet or any other kind of joint appearance is not going to happen, but that West -- who claims profound remorse about his behavior at last year's VMA's -- will be performing during the broadcast, too. His rehearsal was reportedly also kept under wraps.

The question now is: Will Taylor Swift take the high road in her new song be forgiving about what happened? Or will she smile sweetly while lashing out at the rapper? She's been known to call out former flames in her acclaimed lyrics (Swift was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this year), and we're betting she has an awful lot to get off her chest after a year of listening to Kanye West's side of the story!

James Franco: I'm Not Gay and Don't Smoke Pot

James Franco is such a tease, but in the October 2010 issue of The Advocate, the 32-year-old actor sets the record straight about his sexuality and whether or not he smokes marijuana.

"Sure, I'd tell you if I was [gay]," he admits. "I guess the reason I wouldn't is because I'd be worried that it would hurt my career. I suppose that's the reason one wouldn't do that, right? But no, that wouldn't be something that would deter me. I'm going to do projects that I want to do."

Although he loves playing a gay man on the big screen, he's only doing it for the challenge and a paycheck. But people's preconceived notions get in the way of reality. "Everyone thinks I'm a stoner, and some people think I'm gay because I've played these gay roles. That's what people think, but it's not true. I don't smoke pot. I'm not gay..." he rattles off.

On why he chooses to portray gay characters: "In this history of cinema, there are so many heterosexual love stories. It's so hammered, so done. It's just not that interesting to me. It's more interesting to me to play roles and relationships that haven't been portrayed as often."

On how nothing would stop him from taking the role in 'Howl': "You want to know what my agents did try to talk me out of? General Hospital. They didn't think me acting in a soap opera was the greatest idea. But they know that I've always wanted to do a movie about the Beats, so no one tried to stop me from playing Allen Ginsberg."

Britney Spears Slams Bodyguard Harassment Claims

Britney Spears categorically denied a former bodyguard's accusations that she'd sexually harassed him and abused her children, the Associated Press reports. Fernando Flores, who worked as a bodyguard for Spears for a couple months in 2010,filed a lawsuit against the pop star on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Spears posted a statement on her website in response to the allegations. In the statement, she says she and her lawyer fully expect the lawsuit to be dismissed.

"This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself," the statement said.

"The Department of Children and Family Services conducted a proper investigation surrounding Mr. Flores' accusations and have closed the case without further action," the statement concluded.

Flores claims Britney made "repeated unwanted sexual advances" toward him.

In the lawsuit, an alleged incident between the two is described. "[Britney] was wearing a white lace, see-through dress. She walked over close by [Flores], intentionally dropped her cigarette lighter on the floor, bent over to retrieve it and thereby exposed her uncovered genitals to [Flores]."

Flores also asserts that Spears beat her children in front of him, using his belt to "savagely hit the small child [Preston]" on one occasion.

Flores is seeking unspecified damages.

Angelina Jolie: Brad Pitt Is My Only Friend

She may be rich, famous and beautiful butAngelina Jolie is lacking one major thing in life--friends. In a satellite interview with CNN's Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday, Jolie revealed that when it comes to people she talks to, she really just chats with her husband, Brad Pitt,UsMagazine.com reports.

When Gupta asked how Jolie coped when she was traveling for her duties as UN's Goodwill Ambassador, the actress said she mostly relied on her husband.

"I'll talk to my family. I talk to Brad; he wants to know as much as he can about these issues and every trip. He's been here as well; he came with me after the earthquake. But I don't know, I don't have a lot of friends I talk to. He is really the only person I talk to," the 'Salt' actress said.

Jolie is currently in Pakistan to visit with victims of a recent flood. And while she said she misses her children and family when she goes on her UN trips, her kids understand why she has to go.

"I tell my children why I'm going and I explain to them why I was packing flashlights and food. They help me pack some things," she told Gupta. "My children are from a lot of these countries, so I want them to understand what's happening in Africa, the boys to understand what's happening if there's something current in their countries, and for all of them to know about each other's countries as well."
